Hi, probably a stupid question,
I,ve always assumed the kompressor got its lubrication from the engine oil.
But reading a american forum they were refering to changing the kompressor oil.
Can any body clarifiy this also wat sort of S/C unit is fitted (car details in signature).

Hi Andy I've just been on wis and there is indeed a means of checking the oil level in the S/charger apparently you have to remove the air cleaner completeley then remove suction and pressure lines from the S/C blank the openings, this then gives access to the oil level bung the oil level should be no higher than the bottom of the thread. The only other thing it says is that a high oil level will cause severe frothing of the oil. It does'nt mention draining or refilling.
If you can come up with any more info I would be very interested as I too run a 230K there is a diagram of sorts but its very non-descript to say the least

P.S. there is a special Mercedes oil Product No BROO.45-Z-1017-06A and order No 0009896201

Thanks for the speedy reply Ultymate, will update if i find out anything relevant.
Its not that i,ve got a fault but its just the engine does,nt seem quite as quiet as it was, thought this might of been the cause.
Has anyone out there got anymore info on kompressor oil thing.

I've read a bit more on wis since my last post I get the impression the S/C gets an initial fill with oil and then can be topped up there's no mention of it in any service schedules I can find as a drain and refill it's just this check and top up

Item No 11 is the level check plug sorry diagrams small

P.S. If you follow this link you'll see the diagram larger for some reason I can't post it bigger on here. http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.as...GM=717.460&CT=M&cat=19K&SID=09&SGR=100&SGN=02

Found this page on the internet today, it shows several photos of the Eaton M45 as fitted to our C230 Ks the oil plug is in the front casing and the oil obviously just lubricates the the two gear set. As yet I've not found out what oil is to be used if and when I find out I'll post it on here. I've found another site of an american company that refurbishes Eaton S/ Chargers and in a list of FAQ's they said that the oil did not need changing ie filled for life but needed a level check at every engine oil change.

Here's the link http://www.thefang.co.uk/eaton.htm
