C240 (1997) Alarm prob's

Good evening guys,

Well, this is my very first post on this Forum . . and, unusually for me, it's a plea for help.

Our super little C240 has had a problem with the factory fitted alarm . . . .
Whenever he's parked (and alarm activated) on a warm day . . the alarm - within an hour or so - will sound - and then repeat the noisy event continuously until turned off.
A parallel problem is that when being driven in hot weather all the interior lights keep switching on and off!

It seems to me that there is a switch/sensor shorting somewhere, or a pcb has developed a fault . . but I am definitely not an electrician, and don't know where to start looking.

Any help/advice would be very gratefully received.

Cheers!

i had a similar issue in cold weather with the lights switching on/off inside the car. diagnosis here recommended I look at the OVP and i did open it, clean the contacts and put it back in.

I don't recall seeing the problem since then.

cheers

Interior lights switching off and on could be a faulty courtesy switch on a door, the same fault could cause your alarm to trigger.

The internal sensor have been modified to stop the alarm going off.

Part number 202 820 60 10
