C240 2000 X reg. Everything works ecept the engine!

Hello,

I unlocked my car this morning using the key fob as normal, lights switched on all ok, went to start the engine (the key turns) but it won't start - doesn't even turn over. All the lights on the dash lit up but nothing at all from the engine.

Does anyone have any idea?? Only other small electrical thing that went wrong was an airbag fault that came up for one journey last week, but then disappeared next time I used the car.

Any advice appreciated.

Only by checking to see if you have 12 volt on the small wire on the starter motor can you work out whats wrong

It may be that it won't attempt to turn over if the power is low so don't take everything lloking good as an indication that all is well. We had this on a 95 C220. All lights looked fine but it wouldn't even attempt to crank. Check the volatge at the battery.
