Hello,
I've got a C240 Automatic, which is a 51 (2001) Plate. It works happily all of the time I've had it (about 3 months) but twice it's given me this problem.
First time was months ago when I first got the car, second time was just now. It took me over an hour to get the car to move again, hence I'm posting here in the hope that someone can help please!
The problem......I've driven the car to my destination, parked like I normally do - footbreak on, gear shifted into P mode and left the car locked. I come back to the car, insert the key the dash lights up. But where I normally have the "N" "P" boxes displaying on the dash I'm getting to filled in squares instead. So I can't put the car into gear. Everything else electrical is working and showing on the dash ok. I just cant put the car into gear.
I turn the car off completely, leave it for a few minutes try again. No luck. I try taking the break off and on and different combinations nothing. After about 40 minutes of retryin and doing nothing obviously different I switch the car on and the "N" "P" come up and I put it into gear and drive away.
So the question is what's going wrong there? anyone seen this or had any ideas. It's only happened twice to me. There are no error messages on the dashboard/malfunctions.
