Hi all. As has been pointed out before, forums like this naturally leave us thinking our mercs are not all they're cracked up to be. I was lucky enough to have just spent a weekend in the Lake District. Wow, what a place for driving. My car is a V6, 2.6l 2001 C240 Elegance and I thoroughly enjoyed some brisk driving. The car never murmured. It changed gear just when I thought it should, it went up hill and down dale with never a grunt or temperature fluctuation. The Kirkstone Struggle (from Ambleside to Red Screes) was a particular challenge that the car relished. The Kirkstone Pass was a delight to both drive and view. Just thought I'd mention this as I think we don't cherish our beloved mercs often enough. Mine performed admirably. I drove approx 180 miles today and was as fresh as a daisy when we got home. Big thumbs up for Mercedes.

Cheers

Mark

Aaah, my very favourite part of the world. I have to visit the lakes at least once every year and the driving is almost as pleasurable at the walking

I'm glad you enjoyed the wonderfulness and beauty of the Lake District.

Why oh why oh why do they name a vehicle a C240 when it is obviously a C260??

It's just the same with this stupid C180 stuff!

Or a 200 when its a 1.8ltr, a 230 when its a 1.8ltr, a 320 when its a 3Ltr, a 280 when its a 3 ltr or a 600 when its a 5.5ltr etc.
At least MB give some idea of engine capacity/power very few manufactureres do.
