I bought a 2.6 c240 estate 5 years ago for £500 as a stop gap whilst my VW caravelle was being repaired. I only needed it to last 2 months. 5 years later and the old girl is still going strong, 167K millage and never missed a beat. I have never spent a penny on her thinking it was only a temp mode of transfer. Needless to say i am overwhelmed with the build quality of these merc's. So much so the vw this was covering for, has broken down numerous times since.
But rust in the body work is the only down fall, that is now going to cut her life short.
What do i do with a car that has kept me motoring for 5 years, trouble free, with an out lay of £500, but now has to go to its maker, a UK scrap yard.......or a final road trip?
So me and 3 other mates, all 50 something have decided we are going to take her on a road trip across Europe and beyond.
We are going to load her up and we are all fat f..kers, and we will be bouncing around some god awful roads, so i need to do a suspension rise, with stiffer springs etc.
This is not a car used to suspension rises, everything i can find online is suspension lowering, stiffer , better handling. I am looking for ground clearance and load bearing.
Does anybody now anything about rising the ride height on these or anything else about making a c240 estate into a desert gobbler touring machine?
