Is it the heater fan or the engine fan?

My old c250's engine went weak after 200k and the specialist said he'd only seen the problem on cars with over 200k.

For the internal fan does it happen on all fan speeds?

I miss that car, particularly in view of what I exchanged it for.

Out of interest your C250, it isn't a R reg Azurite Blue Elegance, by any chance. I'm curious where my old car ended up.

heater blower

hi,
just had the same problem.
the brushes on the blower motor are gone/worn.
there is a pollen fiter next to the blower which gets neglected so gets clogged.
consequently the fan has to be run faster hence premature wear of the brushes. you can't get brushes alone so its a new fan. around 150 pound from merc.
I tried all sorts even a second hand blower which must of had same problem as it didnt turn either.
eventualy got new genuine part from dronsfied mercedes of Oldham for 95 quid.they do a delivery service.
used strong vac on both sides of filter, been as warm as toast ever since.

the fan is under passenger foot well 3 screws then 2 white siders to access fan if you give fan a manual turn while switched on it wil run perfectly till you can repace.

believe me...... it is your blower motor brushes... you coud tr a local washiing machine repairer to fit new brushes as i did but not nuch better performance you never know could work foer you.
good luck,
mick bily.
