The fuel filler on my C class estate refuses to allow fuel to be pumped in at anything like the maximum flow rate available from garage pumps - the automatic shut off activates on all pump nozzles unless I get a certain 'angle v flowrate' combination just right. The fuel filler looks like a pretty industrial piece of design, so I'm guessing that some kind of air-compensating-breather-type contraption is malfunctioning -I haven't checked anything at all yet, but has anyone out there experienced anything similar?

Exactly the same problem on my 280TE - have been playing up for a year now - pretty annoying - cannot figure out what's wrong.

My C220D does the same thing. It just takes a bit longer to fill at most pumps as the diesel froths up in the pipe and shuts the pump off. Some of the smoother, less noisy pumps allow full flow fills. I suspect that some fuel pumps are very rough, by the sound of them and churn the diesel up so that it froths more easily.

Both my cars suffer from this depending on where i fill up, i put it down to the pumps being more sensitve or pumping too hard.
