Hello All

Can someone please explain what the W numbers are, why they are used and what W number my car is!!

Yours is a W202. I think.

It's just a way of telling the bodyshape, there are your shape C250 TurboDiesels, there are the new shape etc. All different shapes but with the same engine designation.
It's the same as BMWs - E30, E36, E46 etc are the most common shaped 3 series at the moment, yet all have the 316i, 318i and so on numbering system.

where exactly did they come from? who made em up? is there a table somewhere?

check your vin no it will start wdb202 for c class wdb210 for e class wdb140 for s class all info is in the vin no allways has been
