C250D Coolant loss ?

1995 C250 diesel 130k, I have a coolant loss on this car BUT there is no evidence of any fluid underneath ! The heater is working OK and there does not appear to be any head gasket problems. I have renewed radiator cap on reservoir to no avail. HELP winters comimg and I worry about the engine being damaged by frost.

My first thought would be to check all hoses for signs of staining in the surrounding areas.

The only points where a leak can accure are.

Water going into sump or bore.
Radiator leaking
Heater leaking.
Hose loose or split.

There is no where else.

If the car is an automatic,check the ATF for contamination as it is not unheard of for a leak to develop between the radiator and ATF cooler on these cars allowing coolant to leak into the gearbox.
