I wonder if anyone else is having the same problem as me which is I can drive normaly for about 25 - 30 miles then the car just dies somtimes it idles along aroung 20 MPH and somtime it splutters and cuts out. If I leave it for 5 min it will start drive for a bit not being able to go above 40 or 50 without it trying to die on me again, in saying this it doesnt happen all the time which is quite baffling.

Cheers Jonathan :( :?:

I think they are around the 70 pound mark. Try Euro Car Parts as well as your MB Dealer. You will need your chassis number.

It could well be the airflow sensor - symptoms sound right, but there are other sensors (does the 250D have an o2 sensor?) that can give similar effects . I don't know how much the 250D one is , the 240 petrol one was £240! May be worth forking out on a diagnostic to be sure.
