since i bought the above car a few months ago i've noticed it has a hesitation/delay when accelerating in first/2nd gear(man box) until the turbo comes in then it goes like a rocket. i thought it was because it was fly by wire accelerator but i've driven 2 cars today which both have fly by wire & both had loads of pull at low revs where as mine seems to hold back then goes like a rocket once turbo kicks in. one was a passat tdi 100 bhp & the other a focus tdci 115 bhp, mines 150bhp. i know these other cars are common rail & pd. has anyone else got a c250td & what do they drive like ? its not the maf sensor cus mines an early 1996 model fitted with a map sensor. i've checked all the vacumn pipes etc. i'm waiting for a lead so i can connect my scanner & check the sensor outputs. any feed back please ? thanks shaun

just an update. i've found the throttle return spring thats attached to the throttle pot broken... i've replaced it. also i've blanked off the vacumn hose that connects to the egr valve. the car seems alot smoother & driveable in low gears/traffic. if it stays like this i'll be happy.

good to hear you've found something. I found the 250 to be a jeckel and hyde anyway (had a couple of new ones as loaners years back). No great shakes until the turbo kicks in and then hold onto your hat!

Donr forget that EGR valves fail in the partly open posistion, blanking the vacuam will not help if it is partly open.
