Hello everyone out there,
Has anyone experienced the problem i had over the new year. We have a 5 year old C270 which we have had from new (95,000 on clock) and it seems a little early for this problem. We took it back to our local dealer where we bought the car. Symptoms obvious were no power and a hissing noise which you could just hear. After diagnostics etc replaced the cat for £650,only to have the same problem a few days later! Took it back and after further examination i was told it was the pre-cat which needed replacing and another nice £850!! Was it the pre-cat first thus avoiding the initial £650 i beg to wonder. Am i over reacting or is this something to expect on what has been up to now a beautiful car. We have driven to France since the escapade and needless to say joined the RAC!!!-JUST IN CASE.

You don't need the CAT for MOT. Just remove the innards for a TEMP fix
