C270 Cdi Auto box

The Auto box on my fathers 02 C270Cdi has gone in to emergency mode a couple of times in the last few weeks. Has anyone had a similar problem?
and do you think Mercedes would offer a goodwill gesture towards the repair.

Also does anyone know of an independent Merc or transmission specialist in the Humberside area.

Why do you think its a gearbox problem?
By far the most common cause of safe mode activation is the MAS sensor. Assuming its more serious, its hard to say whether they would offer any assistance but the first thing you need to know is what the problem is. I don't know anyone in Hunberside. There is a good one in Leeds but it depends on whether you fancy the trip.

Hi,
it is the gearbox that is going in to safe mode I think it stays in 3rd gear.
You can then use a procedure outlined in the handbook to reset it.
My fathers had to do this twice in a couple of weeks

Now fixed

Problem now fixed by dealer. Apparently the autobox was leaking fluid which was dripping on to a gearbox sensor. cost ~£90 to fix.
Must be a common problen as all the parts needed were in stock.

Do you have a list of the parts fitted by the dealer? I have a similar vehicle so I would be interested to know ...just in case!
£90 is pretty cheap by MB standards so it must have been a quick fix.
