c270cdi wont pull away

got a c270 cdi just drove home and every time i stopped it wouldnt pull away had to put it in neutral and then back into drive,this has happened before to me and the cure seems to be to pull over and turn the ignition off and then on again and this seems to sort it...is this normal and just a common fault?

just had it serviced by the way

Gearbox low on oil, conductor plate going south, or something more serious.

Did the garage who serviced your car check the box oil? Quick way to check is does the filler tube have a red or black tag in the top of it. Black were fitted at factory, red at workshops.
