My '95 C280 does not cease with it's electrical gremlins.recently whilst on holday, the low oil level warning light lit up. I checked the oil level and this was fine. The MB dealer indicated that the sensor switch was likely faulty and would need replacing. Another private dealer indicated that the switch could be cleaned and re-fitted. (where does this part fit - in the sump?) Also, the faulty bulb warning light comes on, however all the lights are working. It is mquite annoying driving at night with the warning lights on. Any help out there with similar solved problems?
I managed to find the problem. i initially tried cleaning the float mechanism, which i assumed might b gummed up with sludge - I cleanded it and re-instaled but with no change. I then replaced the oil level sensor which cured the problem. To minimise the loss of oil, would suggest that the car be jacked up to one side so that the run out for the sump is minimised.
