I recently had my air flow sensor replaced...didnt last another 3 months until it went out again (check engine light came on for it)...could it be the after market air filter i installed in it(K&N)? Anyone have this problem also?

the sensors generally fail when they get contaminated. Why it's contaminated is another question. I could see why a K&N filter could do it, especially if you are in a dusty location as it's designed to allow better air flow, which it must do by allowing larger air molecules and hence more muck into the system. However it could be something else, such as a breather dropping oil onto it from the other side. The third option is that it was a faulty sensor. You need to see what the contamination is. They can sometimes be cleaned with carb cleaner - worth a shot, plus are you certain its the sensor? Lots of things can put the warning light on.

if you do a search for K&N and air mass sensor on Google you will find thread reviewing how this is a guaranteed way of killing the air mass flow sensor. I remember reading it a while back...
