OIL LIGHT REMAINS ON FOR ABOUT 11SECONDS WHEN STARTING FROM COLD, BEFORE THIS THE LIGHT USED TO GO OUT IMMEDIATLY, LAST YEAR WHEN THIS OCCURED I HAD ALL THE OIL LIGHT SENSORS ETC RENEWED BY MAIN DEALER, EVEN SO THE LIGHT ACTED THE SAME UNTIL THEY RESET THE COMPUTER???

they don't seem to have any idea but charge the earth for doing b******r all.
anyone any idea to the cause of this minor problem,

At least it's not just me then.....

I'd like to sort this problem out as well. On my car, the oil light stays on for about 7 seconds, then goes out. However this is intermittent. It usually happens on the first cold start in the morning, but it doesn't do it every single time. The oil light has stayed on for 7 seconds once or twice after a hot start, but this is very rare. I thought I'd cracked this after changing the oil and filter, but after a short time the problem recurred. If it means I have to pay the stealership to have the thing hooked up to their wonder computer for a test/reset session, then so be it. But after reading this post, I'm not convinced that a mere computerised prod and poke will result in a lasting solution. If anybody can offer a real fix for this problem, I'd be grateful.
