A diesel
The AA man meant the gear change diaphragm on a 722.4 gearbox, this car uses a 722.6, so the information is incorrect.

Would running the engine on flushing oil not clean the oil galleries out, maybe not if it's a breather, but is it, or is it a return gallery?

If a breather try spraying carb cleaner down the tube and changing the oil straight away afterwards.

Great information! Now you can count three.

I thank you so much.

I have a used C 280 Sport year 2000 that has presented this problem driving me crazy about that!

Now, because of you, I have my car back.

Its a V6 isnt it.

I think i know what the problem is.

At the back of the engine where the rear main oil seal is is a plate held by a few torx bolts.

Behind this plate there is a oil gallery which blocks up causing the fault you have.

I have seen 2 to date with this problem.

Remove the gearbox, flywheel and the plate and all will be revealed.

If this solves it let me know[/QUOTE]

Hi guys.
This is my first time here and I'm looking for your wisdom.
My C320 petrol V6 is also chucking out loads out white smoke.
I've done the valve seals and cleaned the pcv channel that was recommended by one of you but the problem still remains.
Is there anything else I can try?

Petrol engines chuck white smoke for two reasons:
1. Cold starts generating condensation early morning.
2. Water getting into the combustion chamber.

If it's only first thing in the morning don't worry about it.
If it's all the time look at the coolant level. If it's dropping the head is cracked or you have a blown head gasket.
