My engine management light came on after a little drive out at the weekend, stopped the car as you do, rang mercedes, don't worry you can still drive it, took into mercedes Peterborough, £135 for the privilege of taking it to the main dealer, ahhh you need a new nox sensor and calmly told me that will be £840, and don't worry we can do it within the hour, its nice having a 2015 C300 hybrid which cost me just under £20,000 a year ago, you think you will have to stop shelling out money coz you've brought something that's good quality, this year ive spent £500 on having it serviced at MB, all good then last month the battery had problems, being the hybrid it needed a MB battery, another £360, beginning to think buying a Mercedes wasn't the best choice i could have made

Welcome to the forum and sorry to hear of your issues.

Not much more than that to add, i'm afraid. At least the car is nice and comfy though, right?!

Persistently taking a 5 year old car, out of warranty, back to a main dealer is the mistake you're making, you should find a local independent Mercedes specialist if you're uncomfortable with main dealer prices which most members here are, either that or sort out some extended warranty for your Hybrid. You could enter your postcode in the 'Mercedes Specialist Finder' at the bottom of the page for a list and have a phone round for one who known your model.

Buying a Mercedes wasn’t the problem buying a hybrid was ..... had one for 2 years and it was plagued with issues from the start , they practically rebuilt the ****** thing ! Glad I got rid of it only thing I do miss was the £10 road tax a year :)

I don't think I have read anything good about the hybrids, certainly keeping clear of them.
We changed the wife's 10 year old SLK200K 6 months ago, had it 8 years nothing went wrong with it. Replaced it with a Dec 2016 SLC250d £30 a year road tax, as apposed to £300 for the SLK. 60 mpg on runs & 45 mpg round towns, who needs a hybrid?

Sorry to say but fairly specifically Mercedes Hybrids are problematic, Japanese know how to build them and experience tells me BMW do too....but Mercedes don’t seem to be able to translate their F1 technology to the road

My sister in law has a Toyota Yaris 1.5 Hybrid auto 7 years old. Bought it new nothing has gone wrong with it. She lives in London no road tax or congestion charge, & I quite like driving it.

There isn't a great deal of positive feedback for the Mercedes EQ offerings to Date, but, To be fair, this is a Mercedes related forum and by the sheer nature of an Owner's Forum, isn't it to be expected that this would be one of the first places that owners would come to seek assistance from fellow owners when something goes wrong? EV's are a new and fast developing technology and I'm sure that between the manufacturers, the dealership network and the Independent specialists that between them all will eventually develop the fixes needed for the failures that are developing. Don't misunderstand me! there is a great deal I cannot forgive Daimler or Mercedes Benz for, but that's another discussion. Interesting to note that in their first year racing in the 6th series 2019-2020 Formula E Championship they finished 3rd! and Porsche another first year entrant 8th.
Back on topic, NOX sensor, diesel engine, 'Emissions Software Update' does anyone else suspect this is a Diesel related issue and for once not a Hybrid issue?

I have the C300h 2017 and so far no major issues.
I have taken out an extended warranty from Mercedes for £450 a year.

And well worth the peace of mind IMHO, I would also wager, with an element of persuasion it would have at least helped towards the lion's share of the costs for the OP's expenses!

Thanks everyone for your feedback, certainly take on board looking for a Mercedes Specialist in my area but are they going to be that much cheaper!!, I went to Italy last year in the car and because it was the Hybrid, well I think it was because it was a Hybrid £100 of Diesel i was getting a 1000 miles , I did nearly 3000 miles without any issues, maybe I'm just one of the unlucky ones and maybe won't have any more major issues, or am I just kidding myself because I just love the car

Unfortunately batteries don't last forever will not be covered by the warranty unless it's the 48v hybrid one.
In a lot of instances if you ask Mercedes for goodwill on the NOX sensor they do offer something especially if it's been kept in the dealer network.
It seems from various forums that the 2015 diesel models tend to suffer from NOX sensor issues.
Hopefully you can now enjoy the car trouble free for many years.

I just won't buy anything near new. Not looking to contribute to Benz R&D of be the canary. Unfortunately makers, esp Benz have been very busy trying to make us all perpetual consumers grand if yr happy with that. Not for me!
