Hello again.

My c350 cdi 2012 w204 (265hp version) has done 190k miles now and I am thinking of getting the turbo either refurbed or possibly a new one, maybe even a hybrid, as I intend to re-map and AmD tuning (Whom I chose as they do a custom re-map and a few tests rather than just a plug and play map) were a little hesitant in regards to the turbo being able to take extra abuse at its mileage (the hesitancy to just sell the product was actually a plus in my eyes) .

It has a good service history, brake fluids recently redone, transmission (7g-tronic, I think) fluid being redone on the 26th and probably another service before any performance work.

Started trying to research it but got a headache as I am no expert at all, and there seems to be a general lack of detail out there for that year/spec as the info mainly seems to stop at 2010 or the NA engine.
Anyone got any advice as to what the engine/transmission on my car can take power wise? (I read 700nm for an E350 not sure if thats the same)
Is a refurb worth it over a new turbo? Would a hybrid be overkill for just an extra 50hp before a stage 1 re-map? Whom would you suggest for turbo work? That kind of thing.

Treat me as an idiot so that I can understand any explanations, I tried a search to see if anything similar has been posted but came up with over 1k results...

Many thanks in advance for your patience.

My C350CDi was mapped by GAD Tuning (231bhp version), it is around 300bhp and 700Nm well within the safe parameters of the engine and specifically the gearbox.

I would have the Turbo reconditioned and take it from there.

I know there are some E350CDi out there with the 265 bhp engine running over 300bhp and over 720Nm, have a look in the tuning part of the forum, GAD often post RR results there

Thanks for the response, did you go any further than a re-map? or was that enough for you? I am trying not to go into modding but as a former R33 GT-r owner I got into small time mods during the Banzai era and it has sort of stuck and I am fighting a losin battle! :D

Alex Foti @alexanderfoti is an MB specialist on this forum , based in Tonbridge , Kent , he also does tuning . So he might be a good person to call re the turbo question .

No the re-map was enough on this car, in gear it is silly fast (coming from modded Impreza's)

Is there a problem with the turbo currently?
Not as far as I am aware, just the tuners hesitation to add additional stress to it really.
I am sort of giving up as there is so little info out there for this car tuning wise.

The engine and gearbox are the OM642 with 722.9, it was fitted across the ranges so anyone that’s been used to tuning other class of cars will be able to advise what’s sensible.
Re the tuners reluctantly, it’s his reputation on the line if just after he tunes it something let’s go, he is giving sound advice that some parts could probably do with refurbishing prior to a map, just to ensure longevity of the car, but at the same time it’s your money, if you want it doing and are ok with the potential consequences then go for it

Indeed, the reluctance was a plus in my eyes, I have had quotes from companies nearly half the price with no questions asked. But I am a man who listens to experts so I am being cautious. Been quoted a couple of times for a new/refurb turbo and £450 +VAT for a refurb seems average.

At 190k miles the bottom end shells won’t take the extra horses resulting in bottom end knock so good decision to not tune the engine
