Just treated the C43 to new tyres. New baby on the way, rears down to the depth indicators, fronts not much better = wallet time.

I went for Goodyear F1 GSD3's again for the total of £376 all round. Bit less than when I bought them last time round for the previous C43.

And they still look like Formula one wets :)

I asked the supplier, Wembley Tyres, why equivalent Michelins are £20-£30 more per corner and he said it was mainly down to all the advertising and sports promotion work that Michelin undetake. Same for Bridgestone.

So Goodyears it is then.

Had four way geometry check at the same time and found the rears were pointing left, the fronts to the right. Had that sorted for another £80.

Ready for the slippery roads between now and next spring

Oops - missed off the balancing (£7.80 plus vat) and valves (£15.80 plus vat).

So that little lot adds £28.00 talking the total to £404.

Still a very good price.

I can only assume that (a) F1 GSD 3's have come down a bit in the last year or two as all designs do after they've been around for a while and (b) Wembley Tyres do a great deal.

I was pleasantly surprised as I chose Wembley for the quality of they work (there are always top end cars in there and many of the local franchises send their cars there) rather for absolute price. Seems like I got both quality and price.

They're a cut above your average tyre fitter.

As I left a 996 Carerra arrived and mental 993 Carerra RS was on the ramps making a noise to wake the dead (I could hear it from the cafe over the road when it was being revved....)

I've got Goodyear F1s on my impreza. So far very good in the wet and a good wear rate. I'd buy them again.
