C55 AMG Heavy Stearing

Hi Guys,

I have just bought a 2005 C55 AMG and am finding the stearing a little heavy compared to my last car even in city mode. Is there a way that this can be adjusted at all?

Welcome to the forum,,dont think that this has been asked before, other than tyre pressures there is no adjustment.

as far as I'm aware it may have a speed sensitive control system - the faster you go the lighter the steering becomes

What car did you have before the C55?


Could it be the wider tyres / low profile just 'feels' a bit harder than your use to?


Other than that just check the tyre pressures.

Hi, I had an Audi RS4. I had to sell it as im in the states currently and needed something reliable while im here. The audi steering was lighter but not unstable at speed.

Mine has the V6 lump with the wide tyres and it is definitey heavier on the steering than the wife's SLK. I have driven the W204 CDI Sport model and it was extrmely light in comparison.

Dave you have that the wrong way round max assist when parking and driving slow and the assist eases off the faster you go to give you some feel in the steering

i think thats why it may be heavier, the clue "amg" like on the jag lister and sport versions had a heavier valve in it to give you more "feel"of the road.
