Hi, does the c6 mb star diagnostics do everything that a dealer can do?
I'm thinking of splashing the cash and buying the best diagnostics system.

C6 is fake and doesn't exist, it was replaced by SD Connect after c4.

You cannot do everything without xentry online login
More and more things need online access, especially on new cars.

I might be wrong but, a C3 with software newer (but not later than 2014.09) than your 2011 ML350 will do everything without the need for online stuff.

Yes it will do most things without SCN, apart from ecu updates. C3 will be sufficient imo but a far cry from doip if the op actually wants to use that.

When did ECU updates need SCN? (I updated the ECU software on my 2005 W203 with my C3 and approx 2009 s/w)

It was before 2008 Alex, somethings started needing SCN coding in the early 2000's with the advent of the 7G transmission.

As of the latest Xentry update, you have to have a xentry portal access login to even carry out a basic short test.

That is true, but if you keep an older software version, some stuff that flipped over to "online" can still be done "offline" if that makes sense.

Ah, it's all becoming clearer (I think). For the DIY guys if you don't roll the Xentry s/w past the 2014/09 version (and your car's older than that) you can do everything without needing to go online?
