Hi, when I have the front interior light set to the doors position it comes on even when the doors are shut and nothing happens when I open the doors. What could this be chaps?

Most likely the small door switch located on the pillar is the problem, easy to replace. The door presses against it when it closes, you can try pressing it and seeing if it has any effect. If it does not work at all it is possible there is either a missing power supply or the earthing is dodgy.

The simple version is that the door pillar switches basically earth the curcuit with the car chassis and bring the light on. When the doors are closed this breaks the circuit and off goes the light. However, most modern vehicles are fitted with a time delay to enable you to get the key into the ignition, put your seatbelt on etc. If your light remains on then it could be this mechanism which is at fault. You will most likely find the unit plugged into the lamp. Withdraw the light fitting and have a look. If you can live with not having the time delay light then just remove it and see if the light goes on and off with the closing of the door.

Some aftermarket alarms cut into this circuit as well. If the light used to come on when the central locking was activated it could be due to the alarm modifications causing a loose connection.
But def check the more simple points first. Good luck.
