Cam belt change on c-class mer

Does any 1 know when the cam belt on a c-class needs to be changed????

Im looking into buying a c-class (between 2000-2002 reg)

most grateful for any help

The simple answer is never,the car is fitted with a chain and is good for over 200k...................

The belt you see is simply the auxiliary drive belt ('fan belt'). Not critical like a timing belt, at least it won't wreck your engine if it breaks. If there are no obvious signs of cracking or shredding, just carry a spare in the boot just in case.

Hopefully never!!
My Sierra 2.0GT had a HUMONGUOS timing chain (which broke and made a right mess), that ultimately sounded the death knell for that car!!

No,The answer is never,the car does not have a timing belt................
