Cam Belt

I have a C250 TD 98 103000 on clock. When should the cam belt be changed can't see any info to state when. I know other diesels recommed change around 80k.
Looked through past service record can't see any details.
Concerned as been told if belt goes will damage engine

Cam Belt? You have a cam belt? You sure?

I think you mave find you have no cam belt, but a timing chain.

Unless u are refering to the fan belt?

Hi Jensen.
As pascal says, you have a simple auxiliary drive (fan) belt - won't wreck your engine if it breaks, just inconvenient. The camshaft is driven by a duplex chain internally.
Best thing if you are not sure how old the belt is, is to replace it, they'e not expensive, and keep the old one in the boot for an emergency (and keep a diagram of its pulley route with it!).

This car does not have a cam belt,It is chain driven and is good for over 200,000 miles ...hope this helps....

Thanks Jensen,it would be hard not to know about car's when all i have seen is cars from an early age......
