Hi

Hope someone can help.

Have recently bought a 1994 C180 automatic Elegance with just 37000 miles on the clock.

Am trying to find out if it has a cam belt or chain and if a belt, when should it be replaced? I know its low miles but would prefer to do it sooner so that I know it wont give up on me.

Any other service items I should be looking at given its age?

Many thanks

Yes, Malcolm's right. So just make sure you change the engine oil and filter regularly using good quality oil and you should be able to forget about the cam chain.

Another thing, don't overload that big windscreen wiper because if the mechanism fails it can be very expensive. Keep it lubricated (there are excellent posts on how to do it on the forum), and if it snows, or freezes, completely clear your windscreen manually before you try to use your wiper.

Hopefully you will have a trouble free car.
