does anyone know how to set the camshaft adjuster up on an e280 124 1993, ive got the haynes manual an it states once you`ve got TDC on cams & crank to rotate the adjuster by hand clockwise as far as stop, BUT in a timing chains and gears book i lent from my local garage its got once you`ve got TDC to ensure camshaft adjuster lugs in retarded position, so do i go clockwise or anticlockwise with the adjuster,
I 95% sure it's clockwise that you turn the camshaft adjuster. Have you got the camshaft adjuster off the car because if you have the way to check is to see which way the adjuster twist's apart, one way it will come apart and the other it will twist so far then stop!
Hope this is of some help, Been awhile since i've had one apart!
no i have`nt taken it of yet but i think i will go with clockwise as suggested by yourself and a couple of other members, normaly i`ll will always go by the haynes manual, but this other book through me right off with lugs retarded,
thanks lee
