any ideas how this can be changed or removed

Hello and welcome

It being a UK car (Brexit not withstanding...) we have to display KMs per hour as well as miles pet hour.

This means there’s always a KMH display - some manufacturers add KMH numbers around the big speedo. Others like Mercedes have a KMH reading.

This means for a lot we can’t have outside temp showing permanently as the KMH number is in its place.

With Star diagnostics a competent technician can remove this coding.

Fortunately, for a 2017 car, you can have both temperature and km/h as shown in his picture. Otherwise, totally correct (as always ;)) and its an EU thing for a UK car.

As a complete aside, Mrs L's Mini doesn’t have a km/h display at all.

Surely the days of analog speedos is limited?
In the sub menu I always bring up the digital speed display, so much easier to read.

I can't stand digital gauges.
With a digital gauge you have to read and interpret the value whereas an analogue gauge you only need to know the needle position so it's better for a quick glance.

I can't remember now but did the 24v Senator have a digital speed display ? I seem to think it did ??

Digital dash boards have been & gone though I did like the digital dash in my Senator .... you'll have had the calibrated analogue in your 'company car' ;) And that would read in kph too if you wanted

1984 saw the introduction of the digital dashboard in the Astra GTE MkII. Both my 8v and 16v Champion model had the digi dash.

Also had the centre display that amongst other things monitored exterior light bulbs. The game was to drive as far as you could without touching the brakes, in order for the brake light warning to not extinguish. My record was 127 miles, from my home in Marlow Bottom to Holme Pierepoint in Nottingham.

Wait until you are in your 70's & your eyesight is no longer 20/20 vision, digital is great then.
I have had it on my FJR1300 for the last 5 years, I really like it.

No but when I was in the police mid 80's we had a chase with an Audi Quattro Turbo that had it.
He lost & I ended driving it back to the station, I hated it.

Surely admitting to owning 1 Maestro is bad enough ..... but 3!!!!:eek::eek:

:D:D:D:D;)
I know, I hang my head in shame every time I think about it. My only excuse was that my Dad worked at the Cowley factory so I got family discount on anything Austin/Morris (hence my two Marinas). And, after that admission, I probably ought to leave the forum altogether.
