Hi guys, I have just swapped my beloved e63 amg for a new e320 cdi sport.

The deal was just too good to turn down + we are expecting a baby, so it's time to get all sensible.
The car I got had a decent list of extra's fitted but no dab option on the command system.
Is it possible for the dealer to fit one afterwards, or is it a strict factory fit?
My dealer said it can't be done, but that was just the sale's guy, he didn't speak to anyone 'in the back'.

Also,
My 63 (late 07 model) had the option to turn down the radio volume while giving navigation instructions, but I can't find this option anywhere in the new 's class' style comand. Anyone know how to do this?
Thanks for any help guys.

Yes dab can be retro-fitted. Television will be along soon with details.

The relative volume between radio and nav instructions can be set under the setting menu in the Nav screen. Sorry can't be more specific, my manual is in the car and that's under a foot of snow!

This is not so easy to do as a TV install, for you cannot change stations within the Comand, yes you could use a remote controlled DAB tuner.

There are more complications in that you would need an aerial split amp so that both receivers could pick up a signal.

It could well be easier to do an MB retro fit (if available)as this is a new car. this would enable the standard Comand controlsThe car is to new for my data.

But it has given me the idea to fit one to my SL as I have a spare socket

A150 manual, smart forTwo, W205 AMG line premium plus.
On a new model E class this can be retrofitted. All you need are the parts and access to a STAR machine.

The Tuner will connect into the fibre bus and will be fully controlable from the comand, including volume and stations etc. If I recall correctly it will go in the boot on the left.

Thanks for the info guys. At that price I think my beloved talksport will be staying on crackly mw for a while.
Now,
I've searched and searched through my comand book, and still can't find anything on lowering the radio volume when the satnav speaks, so can anyone give me any pointers?
I know you can turn the satnav volume up, but I need the radio to turn down.
Cheers.

Just turn up the volume while she is talking to you, and then the it will stay louder than the background, and then the volume can be set to a lower level

Did you try as suggested in post #2? There is ssetting that allows you to adjust the difference in volume between the two sources so that when a Nav instruction is given the audio is automatically reduced by the set amount

Yes, I had a look in the nav menu and there is no such setting. On my e63 with the older style command (the type with four buttons each side of the screen) this could be done, it even had settings for lowering all or just drivers side speaker volume), but on this version (without the four buttons on each side of the screen, and radio displays like the s class nav) there is no such setting.
It is all very well turning the sound of the nav up, but when you have stopped listening to loud music the sat nav is still deafening!
I have scoured the comand book, even spent a couple of hours this morning sat in the car going through everything, and there is nothing at all in the book.
If you can't set it, then this is a glaring omision from mercedes.

No you have it wrong by turning up the volume when she is talking to a higher level than is needed, you then reduce the level so that it is OK for you, and when future announcements are made, when she is not talking the level will be lower too,,it works fine believe me
