Have a W210 320cdi.

Had new MAF at 90k. Had new MAF at 114k. Just had another one at 117k.

Fault - Black smoke on acceleration, big flat spot, no kickdown. Fault code plausibility error on MAF.

New MAF transforms the car back to what it should be.

Tickover is always smooth.

Is the car damaging MAF's through some sort of fault? Sticking EGR?

Any thoughts welcome.

Malcolm

Thanks for your reply. The MAF sensors used by the garage (an independant Merc specialist) are made by Pierburg (I think thats how you spell it).

Thats a good make of MAF, is the breather from the sump clear, and was the MAF oily when you took it off

The MAF has always been like new when removed, no oil at all.

Could you describe the breather pipe in more detail (from the sump to......) and I will try and check it.

Thanks Malcolm.
