Is it OK for the 2 front wheels to be 225 x 55 on 16" wheels & change the back 2 tyres to 215 x 55 16"wheels?
The two (2) tyres that DO NOT require changing are 225 x 55 16". This is because 2 wheels are fine and do not require changing.
If OK what should be on the front axle, the larger tyres or smaller?
Thank you

Hi,
Some Mercedes came from the factory with different size tyres front to rear.
As long as both tyres on the axle are the same size no problem.
But I would be putting the wider ones on the rear for definite, other people may have different views regarding this.
Do the new wider tyres clear the wheel arches and suspension ok?

Be careful you don't invalidate your insurance with incorrect sized tyres. Faced with a major claim, insurance companies have been known to refuse on grounds such as these.

Yea as andy .. fit the bigger tyres to the rear, and keep same sized tyres on the same axle, there is not a problem with insurance as long as the wheel sizes are the same ie 16''

If you do, check that the cruise control still operates, as the rolling diameter of the tyre will change. The system then 'thinks' that there is a loss of traction - and dis-engages the cruise control.

It happened to me.! :(
