this is not a pi$$ take:grin:
my boss has started the ball rolling for a new (6 mth old) S65 AMG and the discusion we had today was can he 'superchip' it?
i know it really doesn't need it but can he do it without invalidating the warranty we asked merc(york) and they said they didn't know of a chip and dont do it anyway they farm theirs out to an outside contractor but still honour the warranty
personaly i don't see the point but have asked the question as i was asked to do

you probably cant 'superchip' it as superchips wont do one for that kind of engine. Brabus will be able to sort out a power upgrade by re-mapping their engine chip to suit. give them a call. or email HL Gorners at wigan. They are brabus and merc specialist....and expect big money. i have noticed that the cheapest full blown upgrade they do is around £90k. and that add around 60BHP. Mind you that is for a SLR which costs £315k in the first place.

to upgrade fully I would expect Brabus to charge around £60-80k for a S65.

and if money is no object....contact AMG direct. they will have some info to upgrade it.....but bear in mind it may need more than just a software thing as that engine is in a pretty high state of tune. so it may need more bits and pieces adding to make the power increase work. also the 6l twin turbo is torque restricted to 1000nm. It should knock out 1200nm. The gearbox and drive train tends to object as do the rubber bits on the wheels. however it is an electronic restriction so you may get this removed.

why would you want to up it tho.....you will knock all of 0.2 secs off the 0-62time and not much else. unless you have the speed limiter derestricted so it will rush on to around 201mph i belive it is for the S65. and this can be done by AMG in Germany. Most Merc dealers will arrange this but may need an smoothed palm to do it.

here. try this.

http://www.brabus.com/homee.htm

you can email them as they will be interested providing you pay.

HL Gorners email can be found on mercedes-benz.co.uk web site under approved service agents, wigan. they do TVR's too so they wont find an email about your request abnormal like a smart dealer might.

from a legal point of view i suppose the warranty would only be affected if the new modifications results in damage to any parts under the warranty, MB could them claim fairly, that it isnt there responsiblity, but they would have trouble if for example the body work corrded. engine management doesn affect corrosion etc....if AMG do any mods beyond standard then they warranty that mod and MB still honour the rest but then AMG are owned by MB so you can understand why. Brabus do the same but the warranty they may have to cover will be all the engine, drivetrain etc as they are independant of MB so there mods are not "Approved". MB directors do run about in Brabus tuned cars tho so I guess they will look at it before saying outright they wont honour it.

cheers slinky !

he looked at a ferrari 360 yesterday as well for sunny days but has started the ball rolling on the s65
all this stems from the other director (his partner) ordering a bmw m5 ? (the new beast thats 0.1 of a second faster at 0-60 than the s55)
ive copied the link and your coments and emailed him so he can decide
i think the brabus route will not be taken as the car will be a uk car at around six months old and he wont wait thats why we thought superchip (a day at the dealers maybe)
but alas this will be another car i have to drive him around in oh well its a hard life;-)

give Gorners a shout as they can sort brabus tuning out. it maybe some performance company can re-map the ecu but the probelm will be that the state of tune it is already in, it may need more than just software change.

the de-restriction of the speed limiter may be okay. but if the other partner has a M5 which is around £60k why not just ask Brabus for a Brabus Eclass? that will be cheaper than a 6month old s65 and faster.

or if he is getting a ferrari then surely it wont matter if the s65 has to go away for a week or so.

seems strange that he wants to buy a s65 and looks at a ferrari then isnt prepared to send it away to have it upgraded if thats what he wants?

£60k they are at the minute trading at £17+ above list and thats the lhd version (according to the director who's ordered it!)
he wants it all done when he recieves it thats why it has to be merc approved so the warrenty isn't affected i just wanted to know if its possible and how easy it is to do! and by the looks of things it aint that easy!
but will email brabus for the spec on the e class and the cost etc

well i think he is rushing things a bit.......but if he pays he will get....

actually he really needs a sense of humour so he should buy a VW or something...or better still, a Vito Van with the seat option, full window and then have an after market leather covers job....like the taxi i went in last week. was great....it was kind of upmarket downmaket if you see what i mean. i laughed all the way to my destination and throughly enjoyed the £5 i paid for doing it.

and i mean the commercial vito not the car vito....in solid blue....that will get a laff....

you are not wrong as it happens...i perhaps bounced into that site a bit to fast and sprung around with my eyes not really getting a grip.

They will of course pull the 6L 2xturbo from the S65 and force it into the e-class for you, to really hurt the opposition.

The thing is if you email them, i think they can circumvent the waiting list. new SLK,,,,,,,9months.....Brabus SLK,,,,3 months...not bad.....and they can do the same with S 65's too. It maybe too new for them to have organised anything for the web as they do research behind closed doors normaly.

Is waiting for what he wants so outrageous an issue that he must have it before everyone else? coz if he is he needs to go to Dubai where you can get the R-Class....even tho it hasn't formally be luanched yet!

i assume is i recirculating a number of same girls here.....

i think he needs a grip on his life...seems he cant make any descisons that dont involve having to wait for what he wants so he is chasing the thing he doesnt need to wait for....loony.

i have been waiting for my next girl for at least 11 years...and i am happy to wait judging by what keeps passing me by......mind you if he has a few spare who have seen thru his shallow life maybes they could pop round...my dishes need doing and could they pop into sainsburys on the way here?

what you have to understand is he gets what he wants because he can afford it!
if he wants it he pays and gets it
he has in my opinion too much dissposable income but he looks after me very well and he aint pretentious
he loves to live life to the full and lives a little hard sometimes in my opinion
as for the women he is a batchelor and lives the lifestyle so its up to him

nice.....but sometimes you need to wait for things...makes the arrival better. see i think that people who just pay out go off and make daft decisions as they dont think they need to wait. which means there decisions are based on whether they can get it now or not...which isnt really a good way of making decicsions.......i have an slk up for sale £800k avaible now..its a one off.....will even deliver it....will he take me up on it please??????.....

still, i think he has a long lost brother he knows nothing about who has an outlet for his spare disposable cash......me.

and he will need you to drive the cash over here tooo....so thats both of us looked after......seems a good deal 2 me......
