The reason I ask is, apart from doing the garden, and other little jobs, the car is taking the brunt of my boredom, I always keep a nice clean, tidy motor, with a tad OCD, but since being off I'm Polishing it every other day, especially with the weather being nice aswell, again today gave the car an extra polish  paying particular attention to the wheels. :) (in Fact I'm sure I saw the car trembling this morning when I walked out the door with the polish and cloth in me hands).:)

What can happen is that if you wash it too often you will eventually wash off the Wax.

You can in fact over-wax a car leading to a build-up resulting in the opposite effect by making it look hazy instead of shiny.

Better to use a Quick Wax or Detailer. AutoGlym do a nice Quick Detailer but my personal favourite is 3M's "Quick Wax".... But hard to find. (Because it's an American Product). I get it on Amazon at a very reasonable price!

Not so sure with modern paints etc but on older cars with 'sharper/squarer edges' I've seen the paint worn through to the primer ....

You can't overdo it, because you're attentive to the result. Your neighbours probably wish you'd let it get grubby once in a while - you're putting them to shame. Your family would probably like your attention diverted to them too, but I'm sure you're careful to keep things in balance.
