Can anyone recommend a MB dealer in Scotland for a B service and warranty work? Reason I ask is I bought the car from Mercedes Benz of Giffnock, and although they were OK while I was buying the car 9 months ago, I ordered a spare part and they promised to phone me when it came in, they never did & I had to repeatedly phone them to find out if it had arrived or not. I have since contacted them via their web page (while looking for a low mileage CLS as a second car) to arrange to look at the gearbox for a possible warranty repair and they have not even bothered to reply.

So, if anyone can recommend a MB dealer in central Scotland that is reliable, I would rather have the warranty work looked at, B service done & possibly even buy a CLS in the near future there instead of MB of Giffnock. If they cannot be bothered with me, why I should I bother going to them?

Unfortunately, I've had a similarly underwhelming service from MB Giffnock. Same pattern of having to chase for progress, and they managed to 'lose' my MOT certificate and warranty certificate when I used them for a warranty repair in January. MB Ayr were a bit better (not be be confused with Glen Henderson of Ayr, who lost the franchise but still offer servicing - v poor!) but thats a bit out of your way if you're near Giffnock

I did get a flyer for a new MB indie at Ibrox (think it' sbeen set up by ex-MB engineer) but I haven't tried them yet. Any other Weegies out there with a recommendation?

I don't, have a positive input, but would reinforce the comment about Glen Henderson in Ayr. I have written elsewhere about their lack of mechanical competence and to add insult to inury, they're expensive to boot!

In terms of sales, my understanding is that they (GH) source excess stock from dealers around the UK - so they typically sell freshly registered but not "used" cars at prices slightly better than the official MB stealers offer - whether that might be worth investigating I don't know.

Personally, I wouldn't do the proverbial on them if they were on fire ;)

I have always had very good service from the guys at John Weirs in King Street Aberdeen but it may be a bit far from you.
PS malcolm what list. I'm new to this forum business.

MB of Ayr at Whitletts roundabout. Ask for Jon Thomson the service manager and tell him Chas (Ayr , S CLASS , he came out to fix mine at home!) recommended them. You will not be dissappointed, and assured of an excellent personal service

Interesting thread and just shows how much is down to personal experience and the staff at individual outlets - google "mercedes benz west of scotland" and you'll find that Glasgow, Giffnock & Ayr are all part of the same group (Stratstone)
As for GH in Ayr, I have a friend who has bought 3 cars from them and is very pleased, I made a serious enquiry about one and wasn't !

I hope I was clear that my problems were with their service department - I've no idea about the sales side (though you're certainly not paying for a fancy showroom if you buy from them :p)

I too can recommend John R Weir in Perth. They have been very helpful with a couple of warranty issues.

MB of Ayr are total waste of time. Never do the jobs properly first time, car always has to go back again.... and again. Arrogant as they have franchise but incompetent. Looking for good indie mechanic

Yes, the MB Dealership in Glasgow, as above ,is excellent. I had my ML serviced there (plus a few other odds n'sods) and they are NOT a rip-off.

hi,
unlike ashley i have had excellent service from glen henderson and would definately not go to stratstones. having said that the service dept. eventually got my car fixed but only by taking it to milton keynes and getting a german technician to look at it  the sales dept and the manager in particular are dismissive and rude. arnold clark school of sales and managership
