Canbus towbar fitting

Hi, Still looking for a response to this previous query......I wish to fit a towbar to my 2001 (facelift) ML270, Is this a straightforward job with regard to the Canbus wiring?, i have been told to use a seven way relay by one source but another has told me that the wiring is already provided behind the bumper and to connect it directly to the socket.....can someone tell me for sure what is the best way to approach this task.
(I am intending to fit single electrics)

i'm not 100% but if you open the tailgate look at left hand panel there is a cubbyhole remove cover and if you into it down & towards the rear perhaps just behind the filler neck you should have a 9 pin block connector doing nothing and thats it jackpot i hope.

Benzover, thanks for the info, not had chance to look yet but if the connecter is there is it only a matter of connecting it up directly to the towbar socket? or is it the actual socket already?

Well, i've just had a look but cant see anything resembling a connecter, any where else i should be looking?
