Can't get ignition key out??

hi all, in a bit of bother! i've just arrived home in my 99 C250TD and can't get the key out of the ignition 'barrel', its one of those infra red keyless jobs, managed to swap batts with my spare key but still won't come out?

When you turn the key everything comes on but can't start engine? and when i turn it fully off the key won't release??

any clues?

Could be the ign switch, have you tried wrigling the gear shift and foot on the brake

Thanks for that, all sorted now a bit of wriggling about and it came out

i must get more sleep lol

what gear were you in.....i did this myself and it was because i was in N

I had this problem on my old car:

It turned out to be the gear linkage on the gearbox end (there is a grub screw that works loose)

The selector sits in park but the gearbox is inbetween gears hence the key gets stuck.

Further to the useful tip above, DAS 3 keys can get stuck when the lock goes faulty, and a comon fault on the 210 after 1999
