Tried to remove the Lambda sensor on the W124 today, but it is stuck solid. Tried Penetrating fluid a few times but no success.

I cut the wires to try and get a closed ended socket on there, but that didn't work.

Any suggestions, or should I take it to a garage and ask them to loosen it?

I'm now driving around with no Lambda sensor; I have a correct replacement here but obviously cannot fit it.

That's all you can do.Get the surrounding exhaust red hot and get a socket and big half inch bar and hope it doesn't pull threads out the pipe

Heat it up red hot then walk away for 1/2 hour then undo it if you try to undo it whilst red hot you will probably pull the threads out.

The plumbers cans of freezer work the same way as heating, it is shock that releases the grip on the threads, doing up a touch first often works, as it relieves the pressure on the threads

It's booked in at a local (ish) Mercedes specialist tomorrow to have the new Lambda fitted, since I don't have the equipment to get it hot enough to remove the old one.

Many components can be difficult unless you are doing it all day long, there are times when its best left to a garage that knows and has done the job before, so why not
