hi there all.

Bought a Nice E320 CDI, 2005 plate with 120k and a Full book of stamps and paper work with the car.
Not the had the car 2 days and it seems to have started giving me problems all ready. Just general driving around 30-50 mph car feels lumpy and hesitant.

Not sure if the car has had a Gearbox oil change. Its booked in with the dealer for Friday morning.

Should i also have Give the MAF a little clean?

Could this be something else BIG? i had a W140 and had to get a new Gearbox. Just hoping NOT again. Its the 5 speed Auto Box

Thanking in advance

Jav

There are no problems with them and great cars, this should just be the MAF, they do not always clean up, you could unplug it and try the car

A new MAF is only £60 and you will find it makes a big difference

***UPDATE***
Gearbox oil changed and the changes are very smooth.

Took the maf out and gave it a good clean and it made no difference...
Car judders and the rev's go up and down till about 40mph. but its fine after that and it pulls well and it pulls hard.

Very confused? What else next? No lights or Malfunctions

The MAF does not clean up very well and most go out of spec.

They do not put fault codes on or engine lamps.

Try the car with the MAF unplugged

Any part numbers for the MAF? Also does it have to be from Mercedes?

Loads on sale on ebay or another aftermarket one?

Some Ebay MAFs are copies and no good, if guaranteed Bosch the could be OK other wise from a Bosch service center £145

Big rise in MAF prices today. Maybe MAF futures would be a good investment?

Will try that. Also there are two plug on the Maf which one do i disconnect? looking at the car the one the left or the right which tighly packed next to the block?

Took the car into a bosch centre for a full diagnostic. they sent 2hours trying to work out whats wrong. Didnt come up with a single fault. Checked the live data with the Star machine thingy plugged on. Nothing was wrong.

Anypart numbers for a MAF?

Are you sure it's engine related?

What could it be?

DONT say gearbox. plz.

Just had the gearbox oil done and it didnt have any fault codes.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Called up the local motor factors for a price on a MAF and they wanted 200 for a make i have never heard of and 250 for a bosch. Where do you get MAF for £60??????????

Car is jerky and there are surges while i accelerate and de-accelerate. sometimes on acceleration there is slight deep burble from the gearbox area. but once you get going and the revs are above 1800ish there is no problem. it pulls well. went for a 600 mile trip yesterday.

any ideas? it has started to annoy me. where do i start?
