Hi I had been out in the car for about half an hour and I went to turn right into my road. I stopped to let traffic pass and then when accelerating away the car just cut out and ran to a stop. It did immediately restart and this has not happened before, but I just wondered if this was a sign of something that may become serious. Any ideas?

Ideally you need the ECU codes read. It could be a crank position sensor beginning to fail or any one of several other things.

Auto or manual ?

far easier to notice on a manual if the idle is bad / or low on power at the bottom, I'd suggest CPS but could be a air leak / breather system issue

mileage, service history, condition, info about the car and we might have more of an idea

Like others the best thing to do is get the Codes read, but crank position sensor comes to mind aswell.

Well plugged into icar soft and under ME SF Motor electronics it has
P200a-000
P2029-000
P201c-000
P205b-000

but it also says not in libruary, so no explanation of what the are. No other relevent codes in any other section.

Having looked these up online, it says.

If your OBD II equipped vehicle has stored a code P200A, it means that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a problem with the intake manifold runner control (IMRC) system. Code P200A applies explicitly to the bank of the engine that contains the number one cylinder.

A code P2029, it means that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected a malfunction in the auxiliary or fuel fired heater system that has resulted in deactivation. This type of code is applicable to vehicles with fuel fired heater systems only.

Code P201c-000 seems to have a few different explanations.

A stored code P205B means that the powertrain control module (PCM) has detected an abnormal degree of voltage in the reductant tank temperature sensor circuit. This code is exhibited in vehicles with a clean burning diesel engine, exclusively.
***But my car is petrol***
