maybe a strange question to some, but those of us who take pride in our paintwork,i ask the question which one is the best ?
I have used every available over the counter product, even race glaze products, yes they are good, but not as good as some of their claims.I am currently using the maquires 3 stage system, has anyone used anything better ? look forward to your replies.

Quite a few enthusiasts I know Highly recommend ZYMOL http://www.sportscarworld.net/ Going by their web site it does seem expensive but the results are meant to be amazing.
Check out their forum http://www.sportscarworld.net/ubb-cgi/ultimatebb.cgi
Halfords sell a couple of their products separately with prices that seem reasonable.
I'm going to try the two products from Halfords in the very near future
Zymol Car Shampoo and Treatment 500ml (Auto Wash) £5.99
Zymol Car Polish and Body Treatment 500ml (Cleaner Wax) £11.99

I'm sure a few more people on here can also vouch for ZYMOL

Have tried them all. IMHO the Maquires 3 stage is good at removing light blemishes and leaving a deep shine. Takes a bit more effort though, all them applications!

it's all probably a matter of taste but i swear by Mer Hochglanz Autocrem. check em out, http://www.merproducts.com/ ... it's very expensive, but the results are amazing. can be got from halford's, about 15 UKP for 1 litre of polish ... but that lasts about a year, so it's cheap when you think about it.

Many thanks flagstaff,
In my experience with Mer, it is very abrasive,i have used it in the past and always found on non metallic cars the colour of the car appears on your cloth.
For normal day to day,for me you cannot beat auto-glym products.i'm just trying to find out which is the best and the easiest.
Maquires is fantastic, but when you have to polish your car three times to get the effect,it;s hard work, as it is a three stage polish

I use Turtle Wax hard shell for my Brilliant Silver. A little effort is required to spread it over the pait and then to rub it off but if you let it dry it is like dusting the furniture. :)

I use Turtle Wax Gloss Guard strictly not a wax but a gloss enhancer coat. Waxes are abrasive, and Gloss Guard is more gentle on paintwork if used regularly.

Previous to that I used AutoGlym resin polish and finished off with their Extra Gloss, but find Turtle Wax's Gloss Guard is easier to apply with better results.

Halfords currently doing a buy one get one free promotion on Turtle wax products and have been for almost a month now.

I'm a big fan of Autoglym Super Resin Polish followed by a coating of their 'Extra Gloss Protection'. I also tend to think that although other polishes may give similar results Autoglym retains its finish for longer, where other brands tend to need re-applying after a few washes.

I've never used Mer but I know a lot of people who won't touch it because of it's abrasive propertys.

Guys,

Check the latest Which? magazine.

There's a lot of esoteric polishes in there that didn't come out too well.............

Best overall was Triplewax which cost about 1p per mL. This turned out to be about the cheapest.

The King has no clothes on..........

Would you mind extracting the star ratings from the mag, the top 3 products and perhaps the surprising 'lemons' from the esoteric bunch that you mentioned?

I'd have to check to be sure but it would be more likely that you'd be in breach of their copyright by scanning and passing on copies than by simply explaining the results and attributing any quotes to them.

Appologies for deviating off-topic

I agree with heckflosse . autoglym resin polish has always worked for me and it does last - also relatively easy to apply. Never tried the extra gloss protection though - will have to give it a try.

AutoGlym - endorsement by M-B?

Hi reflexboy

I visited my local M-B dealership yesterday and whilst waiting to speak to the Service Manager I noticed an advertisement on the showroom wall for AutoGlym. I interpreted this as an endorsement for the product.

REGARDS Phil

it's the d-b's

I'm an Autoglym convert, espec after the missus's new motor came with a life shine treatment. I just give it them an autoglym shampoo every week(after having polished and extra glossed it). I re-do with polish and e g p about 2 or 3 times a year, which beats the almost monthly re-applications I had with Turtle wax. The finish is deep enough to swim in.
