Is it possible on an E300TD Estate (Year 1999) to use a non MB Car seat in the front? The difficulty is switching off the airbags on the front passenger side. The MB Car seat comes with a transponder that automatically de-activates the air bags when put on the front passenger seat. Can you buy the transponder seperately so that you can use your own car seat?

The MB Option is not particularly versitile. My wife tells me it was probably designed by a man :)

She wants a car seat that clips into a pushchair.

I'm so sorry, just call me "Mr Thicky" i thought you were advocating fitting different front seats, now that i have actually read your question, i'm clear what you want to do.

I would always recommend using the child seat in the rear, with the child facing rearwards, accident figures tend to suggest this as the safest option for the child.

Thanks Dave,......... but have you ever tried calming a baby that's in the rear seat when you are the only other occupent. You get an extremely sore neck, not to mention, it's difficult to do when you are driving.

Is there any way of disabling the transponder?

I know the problem, i was lucky, you only had to show mine the car, and they fell asleep, mind you, when they were babies i had a Nissan, should that tell me something??

I still say the back is safest, they cry naturally, its heart breaking seeing them hurt in car crashes!!

Arshad.
Buy the M-B seat for the front and tell your
wife to put the designer push chair in the
back (that's what estates are for).
Your childs life is worth a lot more than
a fashion whim.
You won't have the hassle of putting in and
taking out the chair every time you go out
with your baby either!

Good luck and think of your child (and the
others to come!)

Hi

I agree with Mark. If you want every body to be safe. Use the MB product. It works and works extremely well and fit like a glove. If you wife finds it a little difficult. Well it gets easier with practice. Didn't I hear that it was a man who designed stockings ?!?!?!?!?!?
