Hi i have just had all the brake pipes replaced on my w210 avantgarde estate. The garage rang me before doing the work ,saying that the brake pipes went into the rear suspension and that they had not done one before, and were concerned about it so i rang a local indie and they it was a straight forward job and did not involve the suspension anyway. Have got the car back and the rear end is sitting lower than the front, i would say it is at least 2inchs lower than it should be, have checked the hydraulic level and it was on the minium level, have topped up the fluid and it is still the same. Any suggestions would be gratefull how to correct the problem thanks Daz.

mmmm... I would go back to the garage that did the brake pipes and ask them exactly what they did, and to be totally honest, so that you can pass this on to someone who knows what they are doing.
The rear suspension is totally separate to the brakes, so my guess is that they tried bleeding the suspension!
The suspension is a simple system but contains high pressures so go careful.
The system self bleeds but may require the small link disconnecting between the valve and the anti-roll bar. Then with the engine running move the valve arm up and down which raises and lowers the rear. Once working, the arm has an accurate adjustment, there is a 4mm hole through the link rod and into the valve body, line them up with a 4mm drill bit and refit and tighten the linkrod.
I´ve been through all this on mine recently after my local spanish dealer quoted me 2000€ to fix!

hi daz250, i have a 97. e300td. 7 seat. est. my self leveling suspension was perfect, but due to a corroded brake pipe the "just out of his time mechanic" removed all the pipes at the rear, he bent them up and binned them, when my friend who owns the garage returned he dismissed him, he had also sent a van out with no oil in the gearbox. i replaced all the pipes with 6mm copper pipe, it kept leaking due to the heat generated causing stress relieving and leaks at the joints. had to order lengths of 6 mm bundy pipe, mb will not supply pipes. after 6 months the self levelling has stopped working, don't know why at the moment. may be bleeding or valve or spheres? the hydro. oil is £12 / lit. so catch any you bleed off. with oil, pipes etc. i have spent £200 on a corroded brake pipe. herbiemercman.
