Hi

E250 Diesel 1996 Automatic

The car revs up but the engine wouldnt fire. All lights glow when key is turned, coil light goes off as normal and engine revs up when key moved but engine wouldnt fire.

Checked basic things, fuses etc seem ok.
I am not so used to Diesel engines.

Help will be highly appreciated

Do you mean that the engine turns over on the key but it will not run?

Hi
Air in the diesel lines.
Does it fire up if you spray Bradex easy start in the air filter

try to check the mercedes fuel filter, there might be not enough fuel? how's your mileage? have you replaced your timing belt? could be that your timing needs re-adjusting or injectors/pump re-calibrating. hope that helps. keep us posted. good luck.;)

To all who replied. Thanks for coming back.

After I went through some trouble with garage I thought I must keep my feedback on the forum. I hope it is useful for people who read.

Yes, the engine was turning but it wouldnt fire. The glow plug light would go out as usual (the plug charged sign).

The main reason was a fuse on the glow plug charge relay. (I think its called K53). This fuse is like a strip and costs just 79 p at a mercedes parts dealer. This relay is located on the front right under the hood (next to the screen wash tank) when you face the car.

I ended up spending £250 with a garage who did not know what he was doing and ended up changing Glow plugs, Bleed tubes ( the ones on the cylinders near the fuel injectors) and service. All absolutely unnecessary. In fact I neded up having more trouble as the bleed tube leaked once and I had to have my car towed once.

Problem is - the glow plug charge slight will go out as normal hence you would think that the electricals are OK - butu they are not.

I hope this helps.
