What should I use to clean the fabric roof? I am not too happy about putting it through a car wash, but know of some people who have.

I woudn't use a car wash anyway regardless of soft top or tintop, but I have used the soft top kit from Autoglym stocked by Halfords and found the results good. This is a two part kit with a cleaner and a sealer, I would do this at the start of the soft top season and then just use the cleaner before returning to the hardtop. It doesn't take long but you have to watch for a fine day.

Depends on what the roof is made of - not long ago had a new mohair roof fitted to a golf convertible.

The company who supplied it said a mohair roof should never be cleeaned with any solutions, infact it shouldnt be cleaned wet at all.

They recommended cleaning with a horse nap brush - gently brushing to lift the dirt out of the fabric.

Their advice was if you wash wet it just rubs the dirt particles into the fabric
