Hi there,

I'm wondering if you people can help me out. I'm trying to decide what colour carpet to have in my new SL. I really like the look of the pale coloured one, but my other half tells me it'll get dirty really quickly. What are your experiences?

Thanks

Yes the pale coloured carpets do get dirty quickly but they look great !!

I keep a set of 4 generic rubber mats in the spare wheel compartment in my car. Once the weather changes towards winter they go into the footwells !!

Also if it's a really sh*t day and pouring down and I know I'm going to be in and out of the car a lot they go in as well.

It takes probably 20 seconds to do but saves you ages shampooing the carpets !! Once the weather looks dry again I pop them back in the boot !

cheers

The Ed

if you go for a light colour, do get it scotchguarded. I have cream carpets in the E and with 2 kids I get away with valeting it every 6-8 months. Comes up a treat though.

Warranty?

Is the cleaning covered under warranty? Did the dealer recommend you got the carpets Scotchgaurded?

I think i'd be on dodgy ground with the warranty! I suspect wear and tear would be banded about.
The dealer 'generously' sold me their diamondbrite package that included scotchgarding on the upholstery and carpets! Being a light interior I took them up on it.
It included some protection on the paintwork though I could never really tell it was there and polished it instead. The carpets do clean up a treat though. I bought myself a carpet cleaner and go to town on it every 6 months or so.

That's probably quite a good idea :)

We've got a pale grey carpet in our car and it does tend to get grubby quite quickly, but I just make sure I clean it as soon as it gets dirty. Just like carpets in the home, the quicker you clean them the better the chance of getting any marks out.

If you have In Car Slippers does that mean you have to stand by the door of the car looking daft whilst you take your outdoor shoes off

I think I could do that when the car is in the drive, but there is no way I'd be seen putting slippers on in a car park, in fact come to think of it I don't think I own any slippers :)
