I've been a complete and utter nerd, but hopefully I'll be able to save the money by not going to stealerships and also helping people out in this club.

I've invested in a JVC XV-941 loaded with Carsoft MB8.0/CIS4 (next best thing to Star Diagnostics) along with WIS/EPC. I'll be plugging it into my ML tonight on its trip from Munich, running live data (to answer such things as saving fuel in N gear) etc. I'll also be covering a few things on chip tuning the 270cdi, once I've confirmed my conclusions (how else could a 270ML get to 125mph constant?)!

Can't wait, already having wet dreams ;-)

Feedback on CarSoft Software

In a nutshell, it isnt worth the money, and if I wasnt in the software business and compelled to get legal software, then you can guess what I would recommend!!

The CIS database, which is supposed to be a repository of information on fault finding, technical specifications and resolution is only accessible if a fault code is read out. Judging from this forum, the cars can throw up random fault codes, so if you cannot access the database and correlate your findings, its useless. From using this software, you can see why garages 'module' swap and do not dig deeper into resolution.

The diagnostics component of the software is reasonable, for just extracting the codes, but then a 200quid handheld scanner would do just the same job! In terms of configuring your cars components, its lacking, ie. Try telling COMAND that youve installed a TV, no can do with CarSoft!

If you cant buy it cheap, walk away from CarSoft!
