cat converters

Can anyone tell me when cat's were fitted to mercedes? I have a 91 vintage 300 24v sl. I am not sure if it has a cat. Is the Lamda probe associated with a cat?

If it has a lamda senser in the exhaust, then it has a cat. Also if you have a small plug under the bonnet, passenger side I think, about the size of a 50p coin with MOT written in green on it, then you will have a cat. They became law in 1993 but a lot of Mercs have them fitted before this date.
