Any idea how I can get off with being caught on a gatso
Depends how big your "balls" are if you will forgive the phrase...

1) The prosecuting force must inform you of action within 14 days with a NIP outside of this you could argue that they failed to follow procedure and get the charges dropped in court...

2) You could ask to view the photos and then if a clear photo of the driver is not visable write a polite letter stating that none of the drivers of that vehicle can remember being in that area at the time of the incident, and that you have checked your fincancial records and they do not show anyone being within that area on that day in question (only if true!!!) therefore you are unable to help them without a better photo...

GATSO BLOWN TO BITS
Gatsos having been going with a bang recently and this particularly fine example in Barnsley is no exception. Blowing them up is the new way of putting them out of action.

Best thing that could happen to the camera,s

Hi guys,
i recently bought a book called "The drivers survival handbook" by martin thwaite.
Its excellent! this is supposedly written by an x-cop, it tells you everything about the law regarding cameras, and other road offenses.

I was told of a system a couple of years ago to get off the penalty points from a speeding ticket. I dont know whether it works or not of if the loophole has been closed now but I suppose its worth a try if you cant find any other way out.

Wait for the summons to arrive and elect to pay the fine. Enclose a cheque for the fine amount PLUS a bit extra ! i.e fine = £60.00 then pay £66.00. The authority is obliged to refund the overpayment and will do so by cheque - DONT BANK IT !! Apparently they cannot process the summons further as this flags a query on their systems and hence no penalty points are applied. If all else fails its got to be worth a try. Lets face it,its not the fine its the penalty points that hurt !

I'm afraid that was an urban myth - it didn't work then and it wouldn't work now, it's funny how these things spread and everyone "knows somebody" that got off using that system but can never actually remember who it was :)

Andy

I can offer a failsafe way of not getting caught by Gatso cameras, it's a bit like playing a game, you have to match the numbers your speedo needle is pointing to on the dial with the ones on the signs at the side of the road - dead simple really and very effective :)

Not positioned legally

Many camera's aren't positioned properley, you can also ask for the photographic evidence etc.So much has to be done for a 'legal' prosecution as mentioned before calibration is only one of them, hundreds of prosecutions fail because of a challenge to failability of the evidence.
You must check that every little piece of documentation is filled in properly,as invariably it's not,the have the audacity to challenge their unfair conviction  Get a solicitor that understands this part of the law, most police officers don't and try to blag their way through.

DO NOT try the cheque routine. the fact that the cheque is never cashed doesnt mean the summons and so on goes away. it doesnt. the police WILL call round to enquire why you havent cahsed it, and they WILL be bringin some other paperwork for you, which means another trip to their worships. always results in bigger fines and often, unless you smile alot and plead stupidity, more points. (wear a good suit but not to expensive and refuse to mention the car type, only confirm it if required to, turn up on time, take an interest etc)

allegedley of course. far be it from me to ever have tried this what with me being and upstanding pillar of society etc etc. and I am not admitting to being gullible by listening to those who know someone who knows the bloke's next door's wife'e best friends neighbours boss's mate got off with it. yeah, course he did.

Only way to do it is.If you know you where speeding and it flashed.
Go back with a truck and hiab and remove the full camera .
Take it home and remove the film at your lesiure.
This is a sure way of not getting a speeding fine.

Sorry! Unless there's no film, or a 6 month delay in processing, you'll be fined. The calibration tip is not quite true. The painted lines across the road are all that's needed to prove you were speeding, these are set at fixed intervals to allow your speed to be determined with a calibrated ruler when the two photos are printed. The RADAR is set to trigger the flash when your speed is above the limit by a set margin. The digital systems in use are even easier, all of the speed-distance processing is done by computer. Calibration is a problem for hand held lasers and microwave RADARs used by speed patrols.

I'm getting really ****ed off by the cameras in use around Central Scotland, especially Edinburgh. Colleagues have received one or more tickets and have no idea how they got them. Turns out that the latest laser mobile cameras are so small and have such a long range (2000m)
that you can get a ticket without knowing they were around. I spotted two cameras on mini-tripods on a motorway bridge close to Livingston last week. Luckily the traffic was only moving about 60mph, but these things were set up to nail every speeder on that road. The van controlling them was parked about 20m off to the side. By the time I saw them I would have been caught, if in lighter traffic.

Our driving is being watched more and more, and those watching are getting better equipment all the time. Takes the fun out of driving!

All this Hearsay....I Dunno....This method has worked twice for me and know that it still works as other friends have done it to.

Find a friend who has a clean license pref someone who isnt driving, send the form back off and fill your friends details in saying that they were driving your car, the local Constabulary which caught you then send the fine to them and they then take the rap...no points for you...just pay the fine and give your mate a £100....

I know they have a picture of your car and whoever is driving it, but this has never been bought up, plus i dont think they would have a clear picture as the gatso type is taken from behind....but dont know about the truvelo type(or whatever it is called)

Then go and buy one of these gadgets, they are ****** brilliant....

http://www.roadpilot.com/roadpilot.asp

They actually do work.....and as a result i now have a clean driving license...

tells you every type of speed camera around....tells you what speed the camera detects at.....tells you a mile in advance...then also mutes itself when you are eventually under the speed that camera is set at....so no annoying beeping....

It now even has a laser blind spot detection as well, giving you an indication where the local constabulary sits and zaps people, however it doesnt prevent you getting the ticket.....

i have tried all sorts of these gadgets and this one really does work and even better it is totally legal as its only giving information and not prevention.

I hope this helps!!

That?s what happens when you break the law. They also give you a minimum of three points and we all know what points make prizes once you have twelve you send you licence in and they save you a fortune no mot, insurance, road tax or running costs for a minimum of a year and the money you save for that year will be needed to put towards your insurance costs once you get your licence back so Stick to the speed limit and it won?t cost you anymore money as you won?t be breaking the law.

I drive many cars not owned by me or given to me if I like it I take it and I drive it the only way I was caught was the car had a tracker fitted but 9 months wasn?t bad for about £500,000 worth of cars what an experience. The Mercedes ML270cdi Inspiration Is crap better with a VW Touareg the best 4X4 I have ever taken would leave your merc sitting looking for the torque to pull it away from the lights.
